Districts of Prague, where it is better to stay for a tourist

The capital of the Czech Republic is divided into 22 administrative districts: Prague 1, Prague 2, Prague 3, etc. The main attractions are located in Prague 1 and are easy to get around on foot. It is not necessary to live in the center - Prague has inexpensive and convenient public transport, so you can stay in ordinary residential areas, for example, Vinohrady or Zizkov.

Prague 1... The area most visited by tourists is divided into four micro-districts: Old Town (Stare Mesto), Nove Mesto, Hradcany and Mala Strana. The historical center conquers with narrow streets and picturesque architecture. People come here to admire the Gothic Cathedral of St. Vitus, see the exhibits of the National Museum and walk along the hills of Petřín Park. There are many luxury hotels and expensive apartments in the center. Finding budget accommodation is difficult.

Prague 2... This area is also considered to be central, although it is spread out on the right bank of the Vltava. The medieval fortress Vysehrad, well-groomed parks and old churches are located here. In Prague 2 you can stay inexpensively - for example, in the Nusle microdistrict and in Vinohrady.

Prague 3... If your dream is to live among students and bohemians, choose this area - it is famous for its relaxed creative atmosphere. There are few attractions here, but there are many pubs, noisy festivals and holidays are held.

Prague 4... An ecologically friendly area with green parks is suitable for families with small children. The historical part of Prague is only 15-20 minutes away.

Prague 5... One of the cheapest areas of the city is built up with typical panel houses. Tourists who want to spend less money on housing stay here.

Prague 6... If this is not your first visit to the Czech capital, take a look at apartments in one of the most elegant and prestigious districts of Prague. It is good for tourists who like leisurely walks along the picturesque streets. Apartment prices are average.

Prague 7... The area borders the historic center, but offers accommodation options 40% cheaper. Drive to the Old Town, admire the Botanical Gardens and stroll through the beautiful Stromovka Forest Park.

Prague 8... The unusual area contains ancient architectural monuments and modern new buildings. Closer to the center, housing is expensive, and there are budget apartments on the industrial outskirts.

Prague 10... The area far from the center is loved for its beaches, a large lake and the largest water park in Europe. There are many comfortable, inexpensive housing here.

The rest of Prague is not very attractive for tourists. There are almost no hotels and rented apartments or it takes a long time to get to the center.

Look for interesting excursions on the Sputnik and Tripster websites. Individual and group, no crowds of tourists and in Russian.

How to save money and find comfortable accommodation in Prague

We know how to choose a comfortable and inexpensive apartment in Prague:

  • The highest rental prices are from June to August. In order not to overpay, come to Prague during the low season.
  • To travel for Christmas and New Year's holidays, book apartments in advance.
  • Apartments and hotels are expensive in the center. It is not always convenient to live here because there are always a lot of tourists on the streets. If you want to stay in Prague for a reasonable price, look for options away from iconic attractions.
  • For a trip to Prague by car, ask the hosts if there is free parking near the house.
  • To save on food, rent an apartment with a kitchen.

Personal experience of MAKE-TRIP: In Prague, we lived in a wonderful apartment in Zizkov, which we found on Airbnb, but now it is not for rent. Also stayed for 32 euros per night in a very cozy 3 * hotel with cool breakfasts - Royal Court Hotel. It is only 10-15 minutes walk from the center.
