Church of the Intercession of the Virgin
The soft blue church is especially good against the bright blue sky! The temple in Staraya Kolomna appeared in 1812, in honor of the victory in the war with Napoleon. In the 1930s, the fate of the church was sad. It was closed for services, and the abbot was shot on a false denunciation. For a long time, a small hardware factory worked in the building, but then the temple was restored and handed over to believers.
Temple of Michael the Archangel
Some of the gates of the Kolomna Kremlin are called Mikhailovsky, because they lead to the Church of the Archangel Michael. The first wooden temple on this site appeared in the XIV century. In 1700, the townspeople built a stone church, and at the beginning of the 19th century - the church that has survived to this day.
During the years of Soviet power, the religious building housed a local history museum, now the church is active. The inside of the temple is pretty empty, the old murals have not survived, but from the outside the architectural monument looks great! Classic proportions, a neat portico with columns and a dome-rotunda are the work of the talented architect Fyodor Mikhailovich Shestakov.
Church of the Resurrection of the Word
One of the oldest and most mysterious sights of Kolomna is a small church in the Kolomna Kremlin. The miniature wonder has a neat porch, a sloping dome with lucarnes and a small dome on a high drum. Nobody knows when the temple was built, but according to documents it is known that in 1336 Dmitry Donskoy and the Suzdal princess Evdokia were married here.
The old church was renovated several times, so it looks different than many centuries ago. In 1929, the ancient temple was closed to believers, and a gym was set up inside it. In 1990, the building was returned to the Church. Today, church services are being held in the restored church.
Novo-Golutvin monastery
At the very beginning of the 19th century, a women's monastery was founded on the territory of the Kolomna Kremlin. This monastery in Kolomna has a quite prosperous history. It was not persecuted in the 1930s, closed or plundered. Today, 80 sisters and novices live in the Novo-Golutvin monastery. They hospitably allow pilgrims and tourists to visit, but they ask them not to take photos of the nuns and not take photographs inside the temples.
Guided tours of the monastery are free. Hear a story about the history of the monastery and see the unique carved mahogany iconostasis in the Intercession Church. Assumption Brusensky Monastery
One of the two monasteries on the territory of the Kolomna Kremlin was founded in the middle of the 16th century as a male monastery. Then the monastery was destroyed in order to restore it as a nunnery in the Time of Troubles. Until the middle of the 18th century, all buildings, except for one temple, were wooden.
In 1922 the old monastery was closed.All novices were evicted, and a hostel and a vegetable store were opened on the territory. Monastic life was resumed here only after 75 years.
Church of the Epiphany in Gonchary

Church of St. John the Evangelist

Bobrenev Theotokos-Nativity monastery
The current male monastery is located in the village of Staroe Bobrenevo, 3 km north of Kolomna. It was founded in the XIV century with the blessing of Sergius of Radonezh in honor of Dmitry Donskoy's comrade-in-arms - Vladimir Mikhailovich Bobrok-Volynts. The old monastery flourished for several centuries, but in 1929 it was closed and ravaged.
The revival of the monastery began in 1991. Today the area is open to pilgrims and tourists. Visit the unique chapel of the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, which is called the Temple of the Singing Angels! This place is famous for its unique acoustics.
